THE BLUE COLLAR SCHOLAR
To realize, one's full potential,
Does require knowledge,
An education is essential,
But that doesn’t just mean College!
The problem is, that very few,
Although their strong and healthy,
Can afford the payments due,
Unless their folks are wealthy!
The Moms and Dads, of High School Grads,
Just didn’t have the dollars,
Struggling just the pay the bills,
And not to raise Rhodes Scholars!
They were called "The Working Class"
Not poor, but far from rich!
They face the test, of constant stress,
And life can be a bitch!
That’s Blue Collar breeding ground,
The nation's labor force,
The ones who sweat, for what they get,
Because there's no recourse!
A product of the working class,
I wear that frayed, blue collar,
Working for the College Kid,
To earn a poor mans dollar!
I put my soul, in his control,
And work hard everyday!
Where's my reward? I can't afford,
To lose an hours pay!
Buy some groceries, pay the rent,
The church wants a donation!
Pretty soon my paychecks spent,
Forget about vacation!
Work till you drop, you cannot stop
And even though you’re tired,
You don't dare take, a little break,
Cause if you do, You’re fired!
On what you earn, you'd better learn,
Just how to stretch a dollar!
It is an art; it's called "Street Smart"
That’s me, "Blue Collar Scholar!"

On the Road To Happiness
I took the road to Happiness
But stopped at, New Temptations!
I sampled all the sinful things,
In several variations!
Along the way, I gotta say
I had no need for maps
I've always found my way before!
Was it just luck, perhaps?
I made the turn, I had to learn,
If I controlled my destiny
And soon enough, things got so tough
It sapped my energy!
I detoured back, on the right track,
And there, is where I'll stay,
There's no short cut, to Happiness,
But tolls, you'll have to pay!
Toll one, keep faith in God above,
Toll two, steer clear of sin,
Toll three, open your heart to love
Toll four, let Jesus in!
Now your on your way, my friend,
Take the Fast lane marked "express",
The roads wide open, to the end,
Meet you in Happiness!
