Life Is a Gift

I remember well

the day you were born

Dad drove through town

madly honking his horn

A gift from heaven

God gave us to share,

To love, teach, protect,

and always take care

Now you are a mother

and a wife

Four sweet boys you

brought into our life

Love is the gift

that keeps on giving

Long after

our days of living

Love Lights

the Soul

May Naomi’s light

lift your soul

May firefly

fairies extol

Stars bright with

a pure loving light

Shimmering colors

to delight

Tickles your senses

‘til they glow

So forever

you’ll always know

Love hides inside

waiting to flow

Warms you clean

down to your toes

No matter which way
the wind blows

The Tree

Through the womb

of time I stand

An expression of

a world so grand

Life is as our Lord

has planned

Nature’s palette

brings true peace

As color spreads

nature’s joys increase

‘Tis my loving soul’s

release

Muted hues

once proud and gay

Begin to fade

silently away

Write upon

a brand new day

I am poet / Author Lou Lenhart
Thank you for visiting my web-page here you will  read about me and my book of poetry

ISBN 978-0-557-30384-7

I am of 59 years,  presently learning  how to live without my loving husband of 38 years. I have a beautiful daughter and 4 strapping grandsons.

Long before I was born my Grandpa Yoh insisted that my Dad keep Nursery Rhymes alive for his family which he did, not only for his children, but also his grandchildren.  At family gatherings, I loved listening to my Dad and Uncles tell tales of their youth. My first poem was written due to a poetry competition I found on-line in which I won an Editor’s Choice Award.

Then through the month long vigil, I spent by my Dave’s bedside, poetry became my release. Each day by his bedside I wrote a poem.  Many times they were passed around Hospice for others who were experiencing the same as me to readand find comfort from...Now I wish to dedicate this book to my late husband, Dave who died May 26, 2009 after battling back from a burst blood vessel in the brain stem. For 38 years, we shared joys and tears. We climbed mountains and built bridges to a better tomorrow. Through it all, we always felt life was a gift to share. Though he expressed a disinterest in poetry, I would often see him sitting at the kitchen table engrossed in a poem that I had either just finished or was attempting to complete. Some of the poems in my book I wrote while sitting at his bedside. With much love I would like to express my deepest appreciation to my daughter, son-in-law, and 4 grandsons for all their love and support while I have worked to put together my first book. Their gift of patience and love has truly been a blessing...

This is a book that will inspire, heal and delight you all at the same time... having a section inside for children too this makes it a really extra special bonus of a book suitable for all the family to read and enjoy...Beautifully portrayed throughout with words that paint all the scenery and with designs and pictures created by Pat Simpson to enhance...
A great book for all poetry lovers...

 A Forever Gift

Ottava Rima

My love is like the waves upon the shore

It sings a song as tenderly it flows

Love’s beauty shines without forever more

No negativity my true love shows

Sweet kindness given never is a chore

Warm-hearted gifts, in soul, forever glows

A cherished life is always filled with love

Tender loving care from the Lord above
