Nature's Holy Grail

A gentle breeze flows softly
Through the graceful maple trees...
A stately oak plays host,
To the humming honey bees.

A maverick pear tree stands alone,
Her blossoms mimic snow...
While squirrels feast on salvaged nuts,
Stashed not so long ago.

A pathway beckons me to walk,
Along this springtime trail...
This morning of perfection
Becomes nature's Holy Grail.

Winter's Joy

The cardinal, in wintry flight,                                                                                                     Pure spectacle, 'gainst snow so white...
He pauses for his meager feed,
Dried berries, or the wayward seed.

He still breaks out in cheery song,
Against the winter, bleak and long...
He drifts aloft on crimson wing,
'Til winter snow melts into spring.

Dreams That Comfort Me

Read the poet's sad refrain,
Tear-stained pages, etched in pain...
Praying to find peace again,
In dreams that comfort me.
Riding on the verse's crest,
Borne on waves of words expressed...
Searching for a place to rest,
In dreams that comfort me.
Hear the poet's sweet refrain,
Blessed shelter from the pain...
Bringing me back home again,
In dreams that comfort me.

Nature's Holy Grail is a compilation of poems inspired by nature, life and the world around us.   The South Louisiana Landscape, along with the plants and creatures that inhabit this diverse area, is dear to the author's heart. Inspirations gleaned from this area are showcased in many    of the poems that deal with nature. Human nature is also examined in poems inspired by social issues. Political issues, homelessness, and crime have given the author a forum to comment on the devastations that are caused at the hand of man. Last, but certainly not least, a strong sense of faith weaves it way  through the various topics discussed here...for without faith, how are we to deal with the ways of the world in which we live.

In my book you will enjoyed poems like this…

A Welcome to Spring

The springtime sun shines softly,
Over meadows, over trees....
The silence only broken by
The buzzing of the bees.

A butterfly drifts lazily,
Above the thistle's thorn...
A solitary welcome to
A dewy springtime morn.
